My Bio
I grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. My parents and two brothers enjoyed a traditional blue-collar life. Football and wrestling consumed my early years. After graduation from Annapolis High School in 1979, I attended Eastern Michigan University. In spite of really enjoying my years in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, I was able to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. I streamlined into law school at the Detroit College of law. Hard work and perseverance helped me earn my Juris Doctorate in 1987. Good fortune allowed me to pass the Michigan bar exam and earn my law license in May of 1988. My law experience included working in an ivory tower law firm, a small law firm, government work and eventually my own practice.
As an attorney in S.E. Michigan for almost 30 years, I have learned a great deal about our legal-lives. I have dedicated my career to the study of proactive law, client organization and legal-life preparation. The result of my career long study is the development of a legal-life care planning system. This new trend in estate planning is a unique approach to educate and organize clients to be proactive and prepared to take legal care.
Traditional estate planning missed many of the areas of legal-life that would cause stress and practical problems. I have created a unique system that addresses all 10 of the legal-life areas that should be considered in any complete estate plan.
As a life-long student of self-defense, I have gained focused experience in firearms law and the laws of self-defense. My experience representing clients and my passion for our fundamental right to protect ourselves has helped me create a legal education program for civilian gun carriers. One of my workshops has been turned into an app called Aftermath. This is a mini-course on the 13 steps every gun-owner should know before the carry a firearm out in public. This knowledge could decide their future freedom. The 600,000 plus concealed pistol license holders in Michigan have a hole in their legal firearms training that could cost them their freedom. I am proud to serve this community with proactive legal training, not offered anywhere else.
I love to teach and regularly present legal-life workshops on legal self-defense, care giving and estate planning. My presentations have reached many gun owners, caregivers, support groups, churches, social groups, senior groups and corporate groups.
